SUMMARY:GHCA May Day (May 1st starting at 10:00AM)
DESCRIPTION:The Downtown Historic District will be celebrating their 67th Annual May Day celebration by putting baskets of fresh-cut flowers in front of their homes and businesses by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday\, May 1st. GHCA would also like to encourage our community members to share their own GHCA May Day spirit by creating their own floral displays. In the past\, even the kids have gotten involved in making their own displays to add to the fun. Although this year we won’t be giving out prizes or bragging rights for the top arrangements\, we would like love to share your floral GHCA May Day arrangement with the community in our GHCA May Day Facebook post\, in our newsletter\, and on GermantownHomewood.com. If you plan to participate\, please send your name and address to ghca21401@gmail.com\, so we can get a photo of your arrangement and share the location for neighbors to come by to see your display. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate spring and beautify our community! If you would like to volunteer and run the May Day Germantown Homewood event next May\, please send us a note to ghca21401@gmail.com\, so we can plan and have a bigger event next year. Happy Spring! \nThank you to all the community residents that participated in this year’s GHCA May Day: \n306 Glen Ave\n304 N Linden Ave\n105 Linden Ave\n20 Linden Ave\n21 Linden Ave\n120 Woodlawn Ave\n15 McKendree\n205 McKendree Ave\n199 S Cherry cGrove Ave\n106 S Cherry Grove Ave\n100 S Cherry Grove Ave\n23 Glen Ave

SUMMARY:Greenscape 2022
DESCRIPTION:GreenScape is a City of Annapolis and community partnership investment of beautification\, clean-up\, and planting in public spaces throughout the City (the Annapolis version of Earth Day). For three decades\, hundreds of projects have been initiated and adopted by individuals\, community groups\, and neighborhood associations. GHCA and some neighboring friends have set up special activities within our neighborhood to coordinate with the the City’s GreenScape event.  Jim Martin\, Keanuú Smith-Brown\, and Bob Waldman are heading up projects in Germantown and Homewood for GreenScape! Help us to plan for the day by signing up when and where you’d like to work. We’ll have coffee and donuts for you\, meet your neighbor\, get stuff done\, and have a helluva good time! \nHOMEWOOD\n9:00AM-11:00AM at the S. Cherry Grove bridge. Volunteers will cut back vines and fish old plastic bottles and trash out of the Creek under and around the footbridge. Others will loosen soil and prepare it for planting flowers. Volunteers should bring gloves\, old shoes\, coveralls/waders\, shovels\, crowbars\, especially cutting tools like loppers\, pruners\, hedge trimmers\, and saws. If you have a crab net that would be helpful as well. Antonia Barry and Jim Martin are project leaders.\n\n10:30AM start time at the Fowlkes’ Community Park at the end of McGuckian adjacent to Ceremony Coffee. Trash will be picked up\, flower beds will be cultivated with topsoil/mulch\, and additional new flowers/plants will be planted. The Park is dedicated to Lyle and Gilda Fowlkes who live next to the park in honor of their service to the Annapolis Community and to youth programs at the City’s Rec and Parks Department. Please bring any gardening materials/tools you have that may help with the project (i.e. masks\, gloves\, shovels\, rakes). Keanuú Smith-Brown is coordinating.\n\nGERMANTOWN\n9:30AM meeting time at Studio 39 circle. The Germantown projects are primarily in Poplar Park. Our primary focus will be on Glen Ave and Bulletin Board Plaza\, but the more people come\, the more projects will appear. Dress appropriately and bring tools appropriate for what you want to do. A weed whacker to trim back liriope would be helpful. Bob Waldman is coordinating.\nIf you are interested\, please fill out this survey and/or send your information and offer to assist to ghca21401@gmail.com.  Although we would love for you to complete the survey/registration ahead of time\, you may also just show up on the day of the event\, if you weren’t able to register earlier.  \nFor more details on the GreenScape citywide program\, click on link below. \n

SUMMARY:Poplar Park Trail Path Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Poplar Park contains the Poplar Park Path. The City wants to extend the Poplar Park Path beyond Admiral Drive and connect it to the hospital\, the shopping center\, the Mall\, and beyond to Waterworks Park and have received a design grant for this. \nEric Leshinsky\, the Chief of Comprehensive Planning in the City Planning Department\, will meet with us on Wednesday\, February 9 at the Library beginning at 7 pm. He will inform us of the current status of the plans and he will solicit feedback\, suggestions\, goals\, and concerns from us. \nThis is the opportunity to ask questions regarding the potential for more traffic\, the possibility of widening the path\, separating bicyclists\, improving stormwater management\, and working towards long-term plans for trees and shrubs. We have the chance to get involved before the plans are made. Join the meeting to listen and learn\, ask questions\, and shape the future of the path.  Walk the path\, in advance\, at your leisure and think about what changes or repairs you might want in the Park. \nThe meeting will be in-person and virtual: \nJoin Zoom Meeting (cut and paste the link below\, if clicking on the link doesn’t work)\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/7275512688?pwd=cFpzNE9hdmdLWEk5RXRGNmNNR2NyZz09\nMeeting ID: 727 551 2688\nPasscode: 123456 \nDial-In: 1-301-715-8592 \nMeeting ID: 727 551 2688\nPasscode: 123456
