DESCRIPTION:The Downtown Historic District will be celebrating their 68th Annual May Day celebration by putting baskets of fresh-cut flowers in front of their homes and businesses by 10:00 a.m. on Monday\, May 1st. GHCA would also like to encourage our community members to share their own GHCA May Day spirit by creating their own floral displays. In the past\, even the kids have gotten involved in making their own displays to add to the fun. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate spring and beautify our community! Here are some details: \nBring in Spring by displaying a beautiful basket of fresh flowers on your front door or doorstep for all your neighbors to enjoy!\n\nParticipation Guidelines:\n\n• All flower basket (any size) entries must be displayed on your front door or doorstep by Monday\, May 1st by 10am. The judges will tour the Homewood/Germantown neighborhood rain or shine.\n• Children under 12 can enter their own baskets.\n• A note card with name\, address\, and contact information must be attached to the basket. If entering for a child\, please specify age on card.\n• 1st and 2nd place winners will be chosen in the ADULT category. DESCRIPTION:GreenScape is a City of Annapolis and community partnership investment of beautification\, clean-up\, and planting in public spaces throughout the City (the Annapolis version of Earth Day). For three decades\, hundreds of projects have been initiated and adopted by individuals\, community groups\, and neighborhood associations. GHCA and some neighboring friends have set up special activities within our neighborhood to coordinate with the the City’s GreenScape event. Help us to plan for the day by signing up when and where you’d like to work. It’s a great opportunity to meet your neighbor and work cooperatively toward a community beautification goal! \nThis year’s Greenscape is Saturday\, April 22\, starting at 9:00 am. \nSo\, Gardeners\, Hoist your pruners\, Pull on your gloves\, March to the Mad Song of Spring. For GHCA\, it has been for many\, many years a bacchanalia of clipping\, planting\, mulching\, chit-chat\, having a cold water\, and the satisfaction of seeing our public spaces tended to. \nAll are invited to engage in the following projects: \n\nThe S. Cherry Grove Bridge will be led by Jim Martin. Meet at the bridge at 9 am.\nPoplar and Glen beds will be captained by Bob Waldman; meet at the intersection at 9 am.\nClean-up of Bulletin Board Plaza and the hosta garden under the crepe myrtles is looking for a leader.\nIf there are any other projects you would like to undertake\, please email ghca21401@gmail.com and Customer Service will take prompt care of you.\n\nBy the way\, the City pays for the annual and perennial plants\, shrubs\, trees\, and mulch. DESCRIPTION:Join the Annapolis Arts District and the Busch Annapolis Library to celebrate a new sculpture garden which will feature large metal sculptures by guest artist David Hayes.
